Hair and Make-Up Splendour

As July quickly approaches for another year, so does the annual Splendour in the Grass Festival. 2012 sees the infamous 3 day festival  return to beautiful Byron Bay. From past experience, this means oddly hot during the day and absolutely freezing in the evening. This year the bill includes Jack White, Bloc Party, Smashing Pumkins and the Kooks - just to name a few.

As a seasoned Splendourer, I am going to share some of my best festival fashion, hair and make-up tips.

Firstly, Splendour fashion is always tricky as you think its going to be a typical Winters day, however ends up being 30 degrees. Try to wear something that you can layer later in the evening. Shorts, t-shirt and gumboots during the day, and then add tights, a long cardie or coat for when the sun goes down.

When applying make-up be sure to use a good quality primer to ensure your look stays fresh and radiant all day long. Keep it simple! You don't want to have eyeliner running down your face from how hot you got in the mosh pit. Don't forget sunscreen either, it might be Winter and look like its going to rain, but don't let that fool you! Protect your skin in all possible ways.

As you will be walking around all day, possibly jumping at some stages around sweaty people, make sure to use a good hair treatment before the festival. In the morning, hairspray will be your best friend to keep your hair holding form and volume. Some great festival hair and make-up:

Hope these tips help you out! Send me photos of your best festival get up.

Enjoy the long weekend and stay warm!

Meet our Makeup Artist and Trainer

So since everyone has been talking about Suzana, I thought it would be a good time to hear from the amazing lady herself. Suzana is our head makeup artist and trainer at Stefan’s. She spends her day searching for great ways to get exposure for our fabulous Stefan Professional Makeup range, training our stylists on how to apply makeup and make our clients look beautiful and making sure our staff are caring for their skin...aka introducing the head office ladies to the wonderful world of Dermalogica.

Lets get to know Suzana...

How long have you been at Stefan?
7 months

What do you love about your job?
I love the variety, the amazing people, the professionalism and the new challenges I face on a daily basis. It’s very exciting to be taking the Stefan Professional Makeup range to a new level and really enjoyed being part of it’s launch. Teaching is also another favourite part of my job – I love inspiring our staff.

What did you do before working at Stefan?
Before Stefan’s I was a State Manager of a leading cosmetics company.

How did you start in the makeup industry?
I originally started out as an accountant but decided that I wanted to pursue a career in the makeup industry so I became a freelance makeup artist for QLD Brides. Then I became a travelling makeup artist for Clarins. I worked my way up and became their top beauty therapist and eventually an account development specialist. My journey then lead me to my wonderful role at Stefan.

What is your favourite Stefan Professional makeup product & why?
Primer for sure! I love that it decreases the appearance of fine lines and makes my makeup last longer during my busy days at Stefan and as a mum.

Best makeup/beauty tip?
Mixing illuminating lotion with foundation. It gives you a dewy luminous finish and a healthy glow.

Thanks Suzana :)
