BUN IT! We love Easy upstyles!

Everybody's doing it!
JLo had one, Gwen Stefani rocks one, Kate Bosworth absolutely nails one and the catwalks are full of them...
What exactly am I talking about? Top knots!
High buns are IN and ladies, this is good news for us. Not only are they quick and easy to do,
but they also stay in from morning to night so you can team it will your office attire by day and totally rock it at night for cocktails with the girls.

After singing along to Chris Brown's "Run It" for a few mins, (thus the title) I got down to business and studied the 'how tos' of creating the perfect bun. I found that there are MANY variations - messy, high, low, tight, braided...
I could go on forever.

So, how do we jump on this trend and do it like the A-listers?
Well if you're anything like me and have thin hair and not much of it, you will definitely need a hair donut.
(sold at Stefan salons for $9.95) What is this you ask?

A hair donut will provide you with the oomph in your bun that you can't get with your own hair. Even if you have lots of hair and long hair you can still use a hair donut to create a look something like Eva Mendez has. (pictured below)

For a basic 'how to' guide on this style, follow the steps below (hairspray at the ready!).

TO CREATE THIS LOOK, YOU WILL NEED:
- Hairspray
- Large Bobby Pins
- Hair Donut

Step one
Turn your head upside down and flip all your hair over your face and toward the floor. Sweep your hair onto the top of your head and fasten into a ponytail. Fasten your ponytail where you would like the centre of your bun to sit. For a higher bun make sure your hair is gathered and fastened right on top of your head and the opposite applies for a lower bun.

Step two
Place the hair donut over the ponytail and pull your hair through.
TIP: remember to buy a hair donut closest to your hair colour.

Step three
Find the centre of your ponytail that is pulled through the doughnut, and sort of smoosh it round to cover the sponge. You can easily feel where the doughnut is still poking through, so just use your hands to smooth the hair round evenly until you're happy.

Step four
With one hand on the centre of your bun (to keep the main shape in place), wind the end of your hair in a circular motion round the base of the doughnut. You'll find it naturally tucks in under the bun, so just work your way round keeping the bun tight.

Step five
Use bobby pins to secure the end of the piece of hair that you have been wrapping. Secure it neatly underneath the hair donut. If your hair is in layers you may find that some pieces stick out of the bun. Just fix these by sticking a few bobby pins in where they are needed.

Step six
Spray! Spray! Spray! Give your bun coating of hairspray for a neat finish.
This will keep flyaways in place and create a chic polished finished 'do.

happy bun making!
