Most of us spend at least 8 hours a day at our desk at work. That’s more hours then some people spend sleeping! The average adult sleeps less than 7 hours a night. So us ladies at Stefan’s have taken it upon ourselves to make our desks a delight to work at.
Contrary to what most of you would believe, a messy desk in the office can make you think more clearly. Being surrounded by mess forces people to 'simplify' thoughts and helps them to make clear and concise decisions. Perhaps this is why during the day our desks turn into a disaster zone with paper and post it notes everywhere. Researchers from Germany found in a series of linked studies - using a messy desk - that people actually thought more clearly when all around was chaos, as they sought to simplify the tasks at hand. Famous thinkers and writers such as Albert Einstein and Roald Dahl have been notorious for their untidy desks.

A few easy ways to manage the mess:
- Organise your paper – have an inbox tray for items you are working on or need to be completed.
- Create a ‘ponder box’ for items you have look at but you either need to think about how to handle them or are not ready to action just yet.
- Keep an Action file for items that will take more then a few minutes to handle.
- For current projects, keep each in their own file in a filing box or wire rack
Check out some photos of the desks in our Head Office. - tidied especially for the purpose of being photo ready ;P
Delightful desk inspiration
