OK, so Back to the Future was set in 2015 and
now we’re only two years away from that date and I guess technically, we’re
living in the future… right?
Gadgets and gizmos have become fairly
advanced with each year delivering a new treat to blow our minds and baffle our
parents, so I thought I’d like to reflect upon the technology I’ll be using
this year vs ten years ago:
Phones
From monochrome screens with only snake to entertain us while waiting for a mate at the pub, to a device that networks, entertains and holistically organises our lives, the humble phone has become an amazing touch screen wonder.
Cameras
Books
From dusty old tomes to wafer thin e-book readers, technology has really taken a leap with literature. Around the globe, bookshelves have become sad, lonely and abandoned places which is both a shame and a boon for minimalist living. I totally aim to fill my brain with as much e-reading as possible!
Computers
For Digital production work and general office admin at Stefan’s
we’ve opted for Apple iMacs. Ten years ago our desks were host to ridiculously huge screens and comparatively slow silicone brains but now we're able to produce some wonderfully creative artwork and work on huge, exciting cross-platform projects.
Vacuum Cleaners
An absolutely random addition to the list but the comparison is crazy! Never has cleaning become so futuristic, all I need now is a robot butler.
What technology will you be using this year and what do you look forward to in 2013?
Lets just hope the next ten years brings us Hoverboards, robot dogs and jetpacks...
