Sensible Shoes

A new study released this week has found that you can judge 90 percent of someone's personality by their shoes, researchers say.

"Shoes convey a thin but useful slice of information about their wearers," the authors wrote in the new study published in the Journal of Research in Personality. "Shoes serve a practical purpose, and also serve as nonverbal cues with symbolic messages. People tend to pay attention to the shoes they and others wear."

The article grabbed my attention because I have a self-confessed shoe obsession. But, when i first read this article at the beginning of the week, I thought to myself that's ridiculous. But, now that I look around at the girls in the office, it could have some merit!

A little helper took some photos of the Stefan Head Office girl's Friday shoes. Have a look and see if you can match the shoes to the personalities descriptions on the side of the blog page.

Hot shoes that would suit any personality!

My favourites :-)

Happy Friday!!

Travel in Style

After spending 6 months of last year dragging an incredibly heavy backpack around Europe, sleeping in bedbug infested hostels and rolling out of bed at 5am to catch trains/buses/weird small vans - although I had the time of my life, lets just say my itch to travel for a while had definitely subsided when I got home.

However that itch is now back with a vengeance. I have started researching dates and flights to Canada and the USA! Throughout my research I came across this image and it gave me inspiration for this blog.

Okay so let's talk about traveling in style. The amount of times I have seen women come to the airport in Ugg Boots and Velour tracksuit is ridiculous. I understand that its a long flight and you want to be comfortable.....but you look tacky and like Paris Hilton (she is not the 'star' you want to look like!).

Take fashion inspiration from these jet setters:

I am not saying wear heels and a full face of make-up, just keep in mind that you might be coming from home, but you will be arriving in a new, exciting city - so be ready for it!

Be sure to wear comfortable flat shoes that aren't too tight because your feet will swell on long flights. Also, remember to moisturize as the plane air conditioning will dehydrate your skin. Finally, get up and walk around! Your legs will get tight and you want your blood flow to remain normal.

My favourite person to take airport style tips from is Rosie Huntington Whitely - she always looks fresh and amazing when she travels.

Have a great day!!

hair FLARE

Want to add some FLARE into your hair but
not ready for a drastic colour change or cut?

Personally, I've always wanted to try something new with my hair but just never had the guts to finally take that step! What if it doesn't look good or turn out right? ...

I have just the thing for you! Have you heard of or tried Feather Hair Extensions or Hair Wrapping? Popular in the '70s, feather extensions are a fun way to switch up your hairstyle (without damage or commitment). Add a few strands for a subtle splash or a full flock of feathers for a bohemian vibe.

You can get so creative & unique with these forms of hair accessories! Check out some examples below. Who knows maybe ill inspire you to go & get them done.

Go on try something new!

The hair feather trend is said to belong to the recent 70's comeback in fashion - hippie-esque style is slowly flowing into the mainstream, with bellbottoms, wedges, and loose chiffon's abounding.

P.S. We are getting our very own Stefan Clip In Feather Extensions very soon!
They will come in a pack of 2 with different colours & shades.
I will keep you all posted on when they arrive in salon. (approx. 6 weeks)

Talk to you soon.

Delightful Desks

Most of us spend at least 8 hours a day at our desk at work. That’s more hours then some people spend sleeping! The average adult sleeps less than 7 hours a night. So us ladies at Stefan’s have taken it upon ourselves to make our desks a delight to work at.

Contrary to what most of you would believe, a messy desk in the office can make you think more clearly. Being surrounded by mess forces people to 'simplify' thoughts and helps them to make clear and concise decisions. Perhaps this is why during the day our desks turn into a disaster zone with paper and post it notes everywhere. Researchers from Germany found in a series of linked studies - using a messy desk - that people actually thought more clearly when all around was chaos, as they sought to simplify the tasks at hand. Famous thinkers and writers such as Albert Einstein and Roald Dahl have been notorious for their untidy desks.

A few easy ways to manage the mess:
  1. Organise your paper – have an inbox tray for items you are working on or need to be completed.
  2. Create a ‘ponder box’ for items you have look at but you either need to think about how to handle them or are not ready to action just yet.
  3. Keep an Action file for items that will take more then a few minutes to handle.
  4. For current projects, keep each in their own file in a filing box or wire rack
Check out some photos of the desks in our Head Office. - tidied especially for the purpose of being photo ready ;P

The Golden Jewels

For those of you who haven't yet hear the BIG news, Stefan's now sells jewellery. So for us girls in the Office, its not just about the latest in hair, fashion and beauty. We now have the pleasures of sourcing all the latest and greatest of the golden jewels.

A trend that has caught my attention of late is the 'Michael Kors' watches piled with layers of gold chains and coloured bracelets and bangles. It appears to be a cross between feminine and hippy with a touch of chic.

Take a peek at the inspiration below.

Sneaky look into the Stefan SS 2012 jewellery range (available mid August)

If you get a chance, pop into your nearest Stefan salon and check out the jewellery.
If you buy one, you get the second half price.

Have a Happy Friday!!
